Asian Study Program

On 10-12 August 2009, Prof. Dr. A Min Tjoa representing the ASEA UNINET of Austria Chapter visited Indonesia to discus the possibility and preparation of implementing the Asian Study Program (ASP) 2010, especially with Gadjah Mada University. The ASP is a program designed to increase the understanding of Austrian students with others' culture, especially those of Asian Cuntries' Cultures.

ASP activity includes dispatching about 20 Austrian university Students from various interest and background to stay in Indonesia about 3 weeks with the hope that they can spend their time of stay for observing, learning and discussing local potentials, such as: culture, food, architecture, religion and peace, economy and other aspects.  For the first round, which is expected to be realized in summer 2010, two cities/provinces will be selected for the stay: Yogyakarta and Bali, as both cities are considered able to provide whole interests as mentioned above, but in the future other cities will be evaluated. It is estimated that the students will stay in Yogya for 2 weeks and then in Bali for one week.  At the end of the stay (in Yogyakarta), the students must write a report and present it for a grade comparable to some credits.
